Schleich Farm World Peacock
Peafowls are characterised by peacocks and their magnificent plumes. These are part of their courtship display behaviour to win over the rather unimpressive hens.
- Binomial name: Pavo cristatus
- Primary Habitat: Domesticated
The gorgeous plumage of a peafowl consists of approximately 150 feathers.
The most striking feature of the magnificent coat of full-grown cocks is the tail-plumage of approximately 150 feathers out and displayed during courtship. Every single jewelled feather has an eyespot at the end. The hens also feature a small crown of plumes on their heads, but are otherwise rather unimpressive.
