Agriculture & Off-Highway
Agriculture, heavy plant, off-highway and forestry all include the great outdoors as a common element in their day-to-day operations. They share the requirement for high performance lubricants and maintenance products to keep equipment running smoothly and efficiently in demanding working conditions. Heat, cold, dust, water, rough ground are common in these markets.
For over 120 years and since the advent of the first tractors Millers Oils has maintained a reputation as a leading manufacturer of innovative and high quality oils and lubricants to the agriculture and off-highway sectors.
Millers Oils has a reputation for the quality and technical excellence of its products and services.
Millers Oils Technical Support supply us with specific requirements for your machinery. If you supply us with the Make, Model & Year of Manufacture of your vehicle we can quote for the correct products.
All Millers products are backed by fast, accessible technical support. Their team of technical staff and engineers are on hand to provide information and expert advice as and when it’s needed.
A message directly from Millers Oils:
Since the first introduction of tractors Millers Oils have developed engine oils to meet the demands of agriculture and off highway use.
Heavy-duty lubricants which bring measurable advances in durability and performance are required by OEMs. Millers Oils diesel engine oils provide excellent protection with the potential to extend average drain intervals up to 750 hrs, reducing servicing costs and down time.
Engine oils are designed to comply with the technical and environmental demands of the latest generation of diesel engines. Most conform to the following standards: Euro I, II, III and the latest Euro IV and Euro V, including EGR, EGR-DPF and SCR engines, with long drain capabilities.
Available in mineral, semi synthetic fully synthetic and fully synthetic low SAPS variants, Millers Oils engine oils are approved by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to the latest Euro IV and V specifications.
Gear, Transmission & Universal Oils
In agriculture and off highway applications choosing the correct transmission fluid or universal lubricant is critical. The choice may be easy if the equipment and application requirement means a super universal tractor oil will cover the engine, gearbox, final drives, hydraulics and oil immersed wet brakes.
However, engine specifications and oil requirements have moved on and specific lubricants may be required, which means a universal tractor transmission oil (UTTO) may be required or oils to CAT-TO4 specification for combined transmission, wet brakes, hydraulics and final drives. Gear oils of GL4 and GL5 specification of varying viscosities are available with lubricants for limited slip applications.
Millers Oils offer a full range of lubricants to meet all these requirements. Use the product selector on this page to make your selection.
Fuel Treatments – New fuels. New challenges.
Environmental legislation moves on all the time. The EU Directive 2009/30/EC set new standards for red diesel used in non-road mobile machinery, and came into effect on the 1st January 2011.
The sulphur levels in the fuel have been cut by 99% to prevent damage to the emission control systems on the new Stage IIIb engines. Whilst the lower cetane value of gas oil reduces the combustability of the fuel, the reduction in sulphur has a direct effect on the lubricity of the fuel with regard to the lubrication of injector pumps.
The amount of biodiesel that may now be blended into the fuel is 7% (B7), an increase from 5% (B5). Biodiesel fuel will reduce environmental effects. But, there is strong evidence that biodiesel impacts on engine performance and durability.
- Biodiesel is prone to fuel dilution and fuel concentration in the sump
- Oil viscosities can change and lubricants quickly go “out of grade”
- Viscosities can also increase due to oxidation
- Increased levels of piston deposits can occur with the likelihood of sludge formation
- Biodiesel increases the risk of bacterial and fungal contamination in the fuel system
All the above can lead to performance problems, higher maintenance costs and even reduced engine life. At Millers Oils we have developed fuel additives to reduce costs, protect engines and gain maximum performance from biodiesel fuels. Take a look at Eclipse, Powercide and Shockdose for more details.
Biodegradable products are useful in environmentally sensitive areas, such as waterways and aquifers, where pollutions must be avoided.
To reduce the potential impact on the environment Millers Oils can provide a range of fully synthetic biodegradable hydraulic oils, and for the total loss lubrication of chain saw guide bars, linkages and rivets a synthetic biodegradable chain saw oil. The range will expand as legislation and additive technology dictates
